WHEN SHOULD I BOOK?Please book in advance to avoid disapointment. On the odd occasion we do have clients reschedule which means that we may have an appointment available last minute. However, as we are appointment only, we are often booked months in advance. If you have an important upcoming event such as a wedding or a vacation, you must factor in the healing time as well. Your cosmetic tattoo needs a minimum of 2 weeks to look healed on the surface of your skin and optimal results will be achieved aproximately 4 weeks after the second appointment

WHAT TO EXPECT AT THE APPOINTMENT?All semi-permanent cosmetic tattoos and micropigmentation procedures require two appointments which is included in the one price. You must pay for your treatment at the time of the first appointment and this cost includes your second appointment You will be given a consent form to fill out and if you have arranged numbing cream it will be applied to the treatment area. At consultation, we will measure and draw the shape in pencil. When you are happy with the shape outline, we will mix a colour to suit your skin tone and hair (if having brow treatment). The procedure will be completed. We will then review the work at the end of the appointment and take photographs. You will then be booked in for your second appointment in a month or so for your second treatment session to review and perfect any areas that may have faded

HOW LONG IS THE APPOINTMENT?Please allow 2 hours per appointment. This includes time for numbing cream to work, time for consultation and drawing the shape in pencil as well as the treatment time

DOES IT HURT?It is likely you will experience some discomfort with any Cosmetic Tattoo procedure. However, all measures are taken to ensure that your experience is as comfortable as possible. Please DO NOT use over the counter numbing creams as they are not ph balanced and have been known to cause complications. If you would like to arrange some numbing cream you may do so prior to your appointment at a compounding pharmacy and have something specifically formulated for use for cosmetic tattoo. I recommend the following formulation but it may vary depending on your pharmacists advice 4% lignocaine, 4% tetracaine, 2% prilocaine

WHAT WILL MY COSMETIC TATTOO LOOK LIKE WHILE HEALING?The following timelines are approximate and may differ between individuals BROWS: DAYS 1-15: During this time brows will look up to 40% darker and bolder while they scab and heal. It may look like you have pencilled your brows in a bit darker than usual. At around day 5 onwards you may notice some flaking and itching. This is normal. Do not scratch the itch or peel the flakes as this may pull out the pigment before it has settled and will result in a patchy cosmetic tattoo. Do not get water on your eyebrows until all the flakes have come away and new skin has formed. The time this takes varies between clients depending on their age and condition of their skin. Make sure you follow your after care instructions given at your appointment DAYS 10-20: The new skin may look cloudy and the pigment may not show through fully until this skin has matured. The pigment may seem light or too light in some areas due to the cloudy new skin over the top. Please be patient for it to show through DAYS 20-30: Now is the time to critique your new brows as the pigment has become part of the layer of the dermis. Any areas to be touched up can be done so at your second appointment LIPS: DAYS 1-3: Lip colour may seem very deep (50-70% darker than the healed colour) immediately folowing the appointment. Lips will be swollen. The colour may start to change or lighten slightly from an hour after the appointment to a few days following. Make sure you follow your aftercare instructions given at your appointment. Use lots of aftercare cream and nothing else should touch your lips for at least 3 days DAYS 3-7: Lips will begin to peel. Do not pick at the peeling skin as it will pull out the pigment prematurely and you will get patches of missing colour which is hard to fix. DAYS 5-9: Lips should finish peeling. Do not panic if you can't see much colour left it is there it needs time to come back up DAYS 14-16: Some colour will come back to the surface and in another week more colour will start to show though DAYS 30-40: This is the true colour of your lip pigment. You will have a second appointment to touch up and go over the colour again

HOW LONG DOES IT LAST?All "Permanent Makeup" is actually semi-permanent. It is designed to fade and will do so over time. The length of time that it takes to fade before requiring a touch up depends on a number of factors including the condition of your skin, medication (eg. Accutane), types of facial treatments and products used (eg. Retinol or Vitamin A) and can also be affected by medical issues such as low iron. Permanent makeup pigment has a larger molecular structure than body ink which is runny and can speard and blur under the skin. Therefore, while PMU pigment is not permanent it has the advantage of not spreading over time and gives us the opportunity to tweak the look / shape as taste and fashion changes

CAN I BRING FAMILY AND FRIENDS ALONG?Due to the level of concentration, skill and hygeine required, it is unfortunate that we are unable to allow family and friends to be present during the process of the treatment. However, if you wish to bring someone they are welcome to sit in the waiting area or enjoy the surrounding shops and cafes along the terrace while they wait
-
IS THERE PARKING AVAILABLE?There is free street parking on many of the side streets along South Terrace

CAN YOU RETOUCH MY COSMETIC TATTOO DONE ELSEWHERE?We do not simply retouch other artists work for a retouch price as it often involves more work for us. We are very particular about our shape and therefore we will assess if the work you have had previously can be gone over. Unfortunately there are some cases where previous work is either too dark, the shape is too different to what we would recommend or it is too uneven and can not be altered. In such cases it may be advised to have it removed first. Therefore, we assess everyone's previous Cosmetic Tattoo at consultation and quote a price based on the hours of work that need to be done. Prices start from our initial treatment fees. Once our clients have had their initial appointments they may return yearly for a retouch price to maintain their PMU, provided they have not been elsewhere since

HOW SHOULD I PREPARE FOR MY APPOINTMENT?Preparing properly will make a HUGE difference to the outcome of your procedure and how well the pigment holds. You can have your brows tidied prior to your appointment Discontinue the use of any anti-aging, skin brightening or anti-acne skincare products. Particularly those that contain AHA, Vitamin A, Retinol. Ideally, do not use these products for 30 days prior to your appointment, and yes, even if you do not use it near the area to be tattooed. Once your tattoo has healed under the skin surface (aprox 6 weeks following your final appointment) you may resume your usual skin care routine. Do not schedule any facials, microdermabrasion, peels or laser treatments for at least 3 weeks prior to your appointment Do not have cosmetic injections at the forehead (if tattooing brows) or lips (if tattooing lips) for at least three weeks prior to your appointment Stop taking the following vitamins one week prior to your appointment as they thin the blood and prevent the pigment from implanting correctly. If you continue to use these then the healed result may be patchy: Fish Oil, Vitamin C, Vitamin E, Garlic, Chammomile, Glucosamine, Evening Primrose Oil, Ginger, Ginko Do not have Ibuprofen, Voltarin, Indocid, Advil, Niacin or Asparin 24 hours prior to your appointment. You may take Panadol or Panadeine for pain No Accutane for one year before getting a Cosmetic Tattoo Do not drink alcohol or caffeine 24 hours prior to your appointment Do not exercise the day of your appointment You may pre-arrange numbing cream that has been made by a compounding pharmacist and bring it to your appointment

SHOULD I GET MY BROWS SHAPED BEFORE COMING OR GROW THEM OUT?There is no need to try to grow your eyebrows before you come in. As we are highly trained in brow shape, we can see where your hair growth is / was and will create a shape that suits your facial structure. Following the treatment your brow hair will grow as normal. Having your brows shaped prior to coming in will assist by allowing more time to focus on measuring and tattooing your brows rather than plucking strays. Once your first treatment has been completed, it is then your responsibility to maintain the shape of your brows by plucking or waxing between appointments. It is recommended to wait at least 2-3 weeks to wax following your treatment appointment.
-
CAN I GET MY EYEBROW HAIR TINTED OR LIGHTENED AFTER HAVING A COSMETIC TATTOO?Yes you can. It is recommended to wait a month following your treatment appointment before tinting or lightening to ensure the skin has fully healed
-
CAN MY AT HOME SKINCARE PRODUCTS AFFECT MY COSMETIC TATTOO?Yes. Check your skin care prouducts especially cleanser, creams, moisturiser and serums for the following listed ingredients which can even be in natural skin products purchaed over the counter: AHA (Alpha Hydroxy Acids) - including glycolic, lactic, citric, malic. Vitamin A - Retinol BHA (Beta Hydroxy Acids) - including salicylic, benzoic, butyric Often these are marketed as "skin brightening" "even's skin tone" or "anti-ageing" It is very important that you discontinue use of these products prior to your cosmetic tattoo appointment. You must not use these products during your healing time including at least 6 weeks following your second treatment. Why? The active ingredients in these products migrate under the skin, so even if you don't put it near your brow area and you have your brows tattooed it can still affect the brow pigment. These products increase exfoliation and skin cell turnover and regeneration and in turn affects the ability of the pigment to remain in the skin. Basically, this means that if you keep using these products and you get a cosmetic tattoo it is highly likely that your pigment will not heal and hold correctly. Your brows may go patchy, uneven or be missing hair strokes when they have healed. Once healed, you may resume using the products - please discuss this with your cosmetic tattoo specialist

WILL I HAVE TO FOLLOW AFTERCARE?Absolutely! Your pre and particularly your post care is the key to getting great results from your cosmetic tattoo. Your aftercare is actually just as important as the work done during the procedure it's self, so it is 100% essential you follow the instructions and is not negotiable! You will be provided with some simple aftercare instructions and some aftercare products to apply and this will be explained at your appointment
